Vincent: An A cappella Opera is a ninety minute work based on the life of artist Vincent Van Gogh. Scored completely for the human voice it is set in the Asylum in St.Remy where Van Gogh placed himself towards the end of his life. The inmates of the asylum recount Vincent’s life in a stream of visions – from his earliest days to the cafes of Paris – right until his suicide. The work is narrated by the figure of the Auctioneer – a modern day apparition – determined to sell a mystery painting at the highest possible price. After it's premiere at St.Martins Theatre in 1990 – it was produced again at Gasworks Theatre in 1997 — starring Kanen Breen – and was nominated for best Musical at the Melbourne Green Room Awards.

In 1992 Opera Australia performed the aria – Here In The Night – from Vincent as part of its Aids Benefit Concerts at the State Theatre Melbourne and the Sydney Opera House.

It’s late and I can’t sleep and rest my walking mind. The conversations in my head. The voices I can’t define. I’m waltzing with thoughts and memories. Partners of my past. One by one we dance.
