Storm

Music, lyrics and book by Anthony Crowley / Presented by NIDA – Sydney 1997

Nathaniel Storm is an unlikely love story set in contemporary rural South Gippsland; where a young Koorie rainmaker – Nathaniel – is confronted by a drought he cannot break and a real estate developer who is determined to build a new hospital on land considered sacred by the local indigenous community.

Produced by NIDA in 1997 it featured Leonie Page, Ursula Yovich, Merv Graham and Rodney Dobson. The production was directed by Adam Cooke with set design by Peter Cooke and musical direction by Ian McDonald. It was presented in the NIDA theatre as an ‘umbrella event’ in the 2007 Festival of the Dreaming.

You talk of hope it’s just a word, you talk of faith it doesn’t work. There is life, there is death, there is no in between. Life is what matters. There’s no room for dreams.
— Wendy Summerfield
If you could see the world through my eyes, your life would never be the same
